Vascular scaffolding to seal giant aneurysms: a new technique.

چکیده
Spontaneous rupture, fistula formation, thrombosis, distal embolisation and myocardial ischaemia are potential complications of coronary and vascular aneurysms. Several surgical techniques have been described to treat these aneurysms: ligation of the aneurysm, resection with end-to-end anastomosis, and vascular or coronary bypass grafting. Indications to treat coronary aneurysms remain unclear, and guidelines are not useful for making a decision. Treatment modalities have to be made by the clinician on a case-by-case basis. Renal and abdominal aneurysms’ treatments are usually recommended for aneurysms over 15 mm of diameter. Stent-assisted coil embolisation has been reported for treatment of carotid and vertebrobasilar arteries. Recently, this treatment has been described for saccular and fusiform coronary aneurysm. We have tested this technique in patients with peripheral (n1⁄42) and coronary

Bare stent-graft technique: a new method of endoluminal vascular reconstruction for the treatment of giant and fusiform aneurysms.
We present our initial experience with a newly developed endovascular stent graft technique in the treatment of two patients with giant aneurysms. In both of these patients, surgery and conventional endovascular techniques were likely to fail. The technique resulted in the successful management of the aneurysms in both cases. Our technique is described, and related experiences in the literature...
متن کاملBalloon Anchor Technique for Pipeline Embolization Device Deployment Across the Neck of a Giant Intracranial Aneurysm
Treatment of giant intracranial aneurysms, via either surgical or endovascular approaches, is associated with a high level of technical difficulty as well as a high rate of treatment-related morbidity and mortality. Flow-diverting stents, such as the Pipeline embolization device (PED), have drastically altered the therapeutic strategies for the treatment of giant aneurysms. Gaining endovascular...
متن کاملGiant serpentine aneurysms: a review and presentation of five cases.
We present five cases of giant serpentine aneurysms (large, partially thrombosed aneurysms containing tortuous vascular channels with a separate entrance and outflow pathway) and review 28 cases reported in the literature. Giant serpentine aneurysms should be considered as a subgroup of giant aneurysms, distinct from saccular and fusiform varieties, given their unique clinical presentation and ...
متن کاملA Giant Hemangioma of the Tongue
Introduction: Vascular abnormalities are relatively uncommon lesions, but head and neck is a common region for vascular malformation which is classified as benign tumors. In this paper, the authors report a rare presentation of vascular malformation in the tongue and its managements. Case Report: An 18 months 2 old child presented with a giant mass of tongue which caused functional and aesth...
متن کاملGiant Intracranial Aneurysms at 7T MRI.
Giant intracranial aneurysms are rare vascular pathologies associated with high morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this in vivo study was to assess giant intracranial aneurysms and their wall microstructure by 7T MR imaging, previously only visualized in histopathologic examinations. Seven giant intracranial aneurysms were evaluated, and 2 aneurysms were available for histopathologic exami...
